Saturday, Sunday

When I worked at BITS Help Desk during the school year there was a guy that would always come in needing help with Dreamweaver on Sundays. Every Sunday without fail, he would be there and I was the only person working the help desk on Sundays. Sometimes I would end up helping him for upwards of 4 hours straight with video editing and website design. Well, Karma has come through for me and it turns out that the same guy is a real life guitar god of Eau Claire. Volume One voted him the best guitar teacher in the Chippewa Valley. Guess who is trying to learn guitar? (Me). Guess who is giving me free lessons? (Him).

I walked into his studio on Saturday morning and he was just wrapping up lessons with two kids who were about twelve. I looked around and saw about 1,500 CDs, 3 huge amplifiers, 7 electric guitars and 6 acoustic guitars. The kids were amazing! And then I heard him play. His fingers were flying up and down the neck of the guitar and when he used the wammy bar it sounded like a jet plane taking off. It was astonishing! Needless to say I was a bit intimidated when he asked me to show him what I could do. Not much compared to what he is capable of. He may not be good with computers but he is very good at teaching guitar. He gave me a rythym CD to practice strumming in time to, finger exercises for increasing dexterity and useful mneumonics and metaphors for memorizing notes and string names. Needless to say, I was impressed and glad I had the patience to help him out every Sunday.

Later in the day, I worked until 9. After I got off work I met up with Bryan at his house. Chris and Ryan were already there. Jenna got off work at 9:30 and met up with us at Racy’s. They were open this time (although we got there about an hour and a half earlier than last week). It was a good Racy’s outting, I missed not going last week.

Today I didn’t do much before work. I practiced guitar for a bit and played a bit of the new 太鼓の達人DS game, then it was time to go! After work I came home and watched Three Kings, a movie I’d been meaning to watch for a while. It was really good! Definately worth watching if you haven’t seen it.
