硫黄島からの手紙

Posted on Sunday February 17, 2008 at 1:00am in

I just reserved this from the library the night before we went to the library and it was already ready for me when I got there. This doesn’t usually happen, especially not with such a popular movie. I just watched it tonight and it was really really good. One of the best movies I’ve seen. Definitely the best war movie I’ve ever seen. The problem with most war movies is that they’re not critical enough of the concept of war. A war movie shouldn’t glorify war. When is war ever a good thing? Iwo Jima shows the fear that both sides in a war feel in battle. The Japanese side think cowardice is worse than death, and many of them commit suicide. I don’t think being a coward is a bad thing. No one is not afraid in war. I think if more people were cowards, the world would be a better place.
