Golden Week is a string of three holidays all right next to each other in Japan. This leads to most of the country simply getting the entire week off, including us students. I planned to go to Osaka and visit Bryan with a few of my friends (George, Nate and Stephanie). We traveled by Night Bus. We gathered in Sumiyoshi at 8pm and got on our night bus that would take 10 hours to reach Osaka.
Inside the bus.
The bus was very “comfortable and pleasant” if you ever get the option I highly “recommend” you travel this way. Seriously though, the ride couldn’t have seemed longer. I couldn’t sleep at all because there wasn’t enough room. George got some good sleep, but he was the exception. We arrived at Umeda station at 6:20am.

and got some breakfast at McDonalds. Nate loves McDonalds…
Nagasaki doesn’t have many trains, so this was a refreshing experience. Trains everywhere…
When we left the subway we saw these huge ducks walking around on the street!
As it turns out, they belonged to the people that run the newspaper stand.
Osaka is a pretty sweet place. It’s a big city, something is always going on. We found our hostel quite easily and checked in with no problems. I talked to Bryan on skype and we made plans to meet up near his university.

We met up with Bryan at the station (we were pretty late, but Bryan was patient with our ignorance on the Osaka train lines). We ate at a Mos Burger and it was pretty great. We walked over to his university and he showed us around a bit.

He showed us around for a while, then we went to his dorm building. We watched Survive Style 5+ with some of his friends and my friends together, and then we went out and did some karaoke together. The trains stopped at midnight though, so we had to head back by then. When we got back we started planning our day for tomorrow: Kyoto.
Thinking about what we want to do in Kyoto.
These were what our rooms looked like. This one is mine. They are practically closets, but they come with a lot of accomodations such as tv, internet, laundry, shower, bath, and so on.
