On Thursday night before the big earthquake in Japan, there was a big celebration of Asia on campus. The Malaysian and Chinese organizations put the whole show together and invited Japan to be one of the thirteen countries present. JCS was happy to attend and did a performance of Soran-Bushi, a traditional fisherman dance. We also participated in the fashion show. Here are some shots from the evening.
Emelia was the MC, along with Ben.
Malaysia opened up the show with a cool song and dance.
JCS was next!
Our dancers practiced for five days straight.
It was a big success!
There were lots of other good performances, too:
Backstage after the performance, during intermission.
Abba, Brian, Kelsey, Rachel.
After intermission, the fashion show started. Each country participated and had a few people show off their traditional clothing.
We were told we could only have 4 people for the fashion show, so we had only girls. All of the girls wanted to do the fashion show.
Kyoko and Minori.
So we can have four people, but then China has six?
After the fashion, India did a cool dance:
Then, the finale. China did a song where everyone sung “Berlin Welcomes You,” from the Summer Olympics in Berlin. It was really good! Everyone in the group was a great singer.
Performers after the show.
Emelia and I. She was a good MC!
