4th of July 2011

Yesterday was the 4th of July, and the weather couldn’t have been more perfect! Last 4th of July it was raining out and I had to work. This year was a nice change. I had the day off and I didn’t even request it. I got invited to three cookouts! I managed to attend two of them. The first one I ran out of time for, so I had to skip right to cookout #2, Bryan’s place.

That cookout was really good. They made chicken legs as an appetizer and then they made one of my specialty burgers, The Big Kahuna. If you want to make one yourself, just grill a burger and top it with grilled onions, bacon, swiss cheese, grilled pineapple, and then drizzle some barbeque sauce over the top. Delicious!

From there it was on to my next adventure. A cookout with some of my coworkers.

We went to the park by our work and grilled out.

Lucas, Janel and Brian also showed up for the cookout.

Lastly, I had been looking forward to taking some pictures of the fireworks. It would be my first time actually trying to do so. I brought my tripod and zoom lens along and gave it my best shot.

I think they turned out great. My only regret is that I didn’t change up my shooting style at all. In retrospect, there are a lot of things I wanted to try differently, but I kind of just settled into one shooting mode and clicked away. Next time, I’d like to raise the aperture and go for a slower shutter speed to get some more pronounced light trails. Maybe do some color adjustment. Stuff like that. Maybe next July.
