Monkey Majik Translations

Posted on Thursday March 08, 2012 at 12:10am in ,

Today’s translations are from a different kind of Japanese band. They are a bit different because they are a “hybrid” band. Half of the members are Canadian and half are Japanese. They are based out of Sendai, Japan and sing songs in usually half-Japanese, half-English. The lead-vocalist is actually one of the Canadian singers, despite having so much Japanese in their music. It turns out that the lead singer of Monkey Majik is fluent in Japanese, English and French. Wow! His Japanese is perfect and so is his English. I am pretty sure though that his first language is French though because he does seem to have an accent in both Japanese and English.

I really like Monkey Majik so I did two of their songs. The first one I picked also had a lot of English in it, so I chose an all-Japanese song for the second one.

The first song is “Livin’ in the sun”:

The next song is “Futari.” Monkey Majik actually did write an English version of the song (which is also good) but they of course changed all of the meanings. Here is the original Japanese version:
