It’s almost the end of April already?! I can’t believe it’s been so long since I’ve posted. I’ve got a lot to catch up on, but the first thing is Bryan’s visit from last month. Bryan came to visit me here in Dallas 2 weeks after Mackenzie left (on March 28th). He just came down for the weekend, but we had a lot of fun. Bryan isn’t much of a picture taker, and I didn’t really take many that weekend either so this will be a bit of a short post. Coming up in the near future posts are the following, however: a trip back to Wisconsin, the rewardStyle bowling event, rStheCon, and some updated apartment photos from after my recent trip to IKEA.
So, Bryan flew into DFW late on Friday night. When I picked him up at the airport I took him straight to the Truckyard in Dallas to meet some coworkers. We sat around, chatted, and had some drinks for a while. Later in the evening we headed over to Abel’s house and finished the evening with some more drinking and chatting. I think Bryan enjoyed the “super Texas” look of the Truckyard. It was actually my first time there, as well.
During the day on Saturday we went and rented Bryan a bike because the weather was beautiful. We rented him a nice road bike from Bicycles Plus and took it around on the trails by my place. We rode to Williams Square, too.
I showed him a couple of restaurants including: Taco Cabana, Five Guys (not necessarily Texan, but he’s never been there before and it’s amazing), Twisted Root, etc. I really can’t remember everywhere we went, which is why I should start writing these posts sooner.
On Saturday night I took him out to an r/Dallas pub crawl. When we got there, Amanda gave us both name tags. This was what Bryan got:
The bar crawl went from McKinney tavern to The Trophy Room, to the Black Friar. After the Black Friar we decided to go back and watch some John Mulaney on Netflix.
On Sunday, we took Bryan’s bike over to White Rock Lake, one of the best biking routes in Dallas. It’s about a ten mile route and it has great scenery. Sunday is always a great day to go, too because there’s a lot of people out walking their dogs, going on picnics, jogging, biking, playing frisbee, all that fun stuff.
After which we chilled out by my apartment’s pool.
Sunday was supposed to be Bryan’s last day, but Spirit overbooked his flight back so he was stuck in Dallas for an additional day. I worked that day, unfortunately so we didn’t do anything while he was in town an extra day. I had a lot of fun with Bryan in Dallas and I think he enjoyed his stay! Look forward to a stream of more blog updates rolling in the next few days.
